We already know before that there are a new, yet redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe (also known as the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe ix45 for European people) was in the works thanks to the sighting of numerous prototypes and even an inadvertent leak a few months back. Some spy photographers have caught this model testing under heavy camouflage, but the 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe rumors thus far suggest that the new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe will get its design inspiration from models like the i40 Wagon, making the new SUV look more dynamic.

Predictably, the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe gets sharper lines that are much more in keeping with the rest of the model lineup, and the new face validates the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe spy photo that hit the web back in January. Hyundai calls the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe styling language Storm Edge which is an evolution of the Fluidic Sculpture theme. Based on the profile shot, which shows a very small window aft of the rear doors, it appears that the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe will be continue to be a two row crossover.

Most of Hyundai’s current engine lineup is still fairly new so that’s why the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe specs should carry over largely unchanged. Meanwhile, we expect the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe horsepower could be increases for both the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder (up to around 200 hp) and the optional 3.5-liter V6 to make both more competitive.

With Hyundai fully committed to leading the pack on fuel economy, we expect to see six-speed automatic transmissions offered on all but the base 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. New looks, increased power and improved fuel economy should make the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe stand out in a very competitive class.

Hyundai continues its whole-line makeover with the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe five-passenger crossover SUV. A 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid may also not be out of the question; it would be easy enough for Hyundai to transplant the 2.4-liter gas/electric unit from the Sonata Hybrid into the Santa Fe, although this would likely launch as a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe model.

The new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe should grow a bit to better compete in this hotly contested segment that includes consumer favorites like the Ford Edge and Honda CR-V. 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe will also offer an updated interior with a more stylish dash that resembles those in the new Sonata and Elantra; we also expect to see a sliding and/or reclining rear seat. Along those lines, there’s nothing flashy about the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, even compared to the other vehicles in Hyundai’s lineup.
