Car batteries are meant to be changed after a certain period of time. If it has been four to five years since your last battery, change your car battery. This can be done with a switch alongside of your steering wheel. In most of the cars you have to lift up the switch. After doing so, you will see your car battery connected to two wires to the terminals with the help of clamps. Do remember to not to touch those terminals with your bare hands because they might have some sulfuric acid residue on them since the battery contains sulfuric acid electrolyte in it.

First clean those terminals properly with the help of cleaning cloth. Use the wrench to loosen the clamps up which are attached to the terminals. Before removing the clamps of the terminals of car batteries, make sure that you mark the clamps for both the positive and negative terminals of the battery. This will help you to connect those wires with the right terminals of the new battery. If you don’t do this, the wires might mix up and will cause a lot of trouble. The terminals of the car batteries are always marked with positive and negative signs. Use them to mark the wires accordingly.

To change car battery, unscrew any kind of screw of the battery holder. Now gently lift up the battery.  Car battery weighs a lot i.e. thirty to sixty pounds. Place the new battery you bought and do all of the steps upsides down, i.e. fasten the battery holder, connect the wires to the positive and negative terminals as you marked them. Use wrench to tighten the clamps on the terminals properly. Apply a little lithium grease on them, which will prevent corrosion. Close the hood and undo the changes you did.
