2012 Kia Cee’d Gives Something to Think About

The new 2012 Kia Cee’d is slated to debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March. Meanwhile, the 2012 Kia Cee’d is appears to push the design envelope even further. A three-door 2012 Kia Cee’d variant follows in March 2013, while Kia’s hot Pro-Ceed, which is rumored to possess 200bhp, will be available at around the same time. The new 2012 Kia Cee’d pack plenty of Kia’s latest design DNA into a compact vehicle: the tiger nose grille is more prominent than ever, and flanked by long, tapered headlamps and a dramatically flared hood.

As usual, the 2012 Kia Cee’d also receive LED running lamps placed along the lower edges of the headlamp housings. The new 2012 Kia Cee’d is longer and lower than its predecessor, with a wider track, giving the five-door hatchback variant a more sporty profile. Although the 2012 Kia Cee’d is based on a new platform, is shares the old car’s 2650mm wheelbase, which is one of the longest in its segment. Inside, the 2012 Kia Cee’d interior is anything but drab.

Like the Optima, the 2012 Kia Cee’d instrument panel wraps into the center stack; grey plastic materials used on the dashboard itself are broken up with strips of glossy piano black trim. The 2012 Kia Cee’d hatchback and Wagon will share a common engine lineup comprising two gasoline (1.4 MPI, 1.6 GDI) and two diesel (1.4 WGT,1.6 VGT) engines with power outputs ranging from 90PS to 135PS (89bhp-133bhp). All 2012 Kia Cee’d engine will be offered with a choice of manual or automatic six-speed transmissions.

Some 2012 Kia Cee’d 1.6 GDI variants will also be available with Kia’s new six-speed dual clutch transmission. Developed by Kia’s in-house transmission development team in partnership with a German-based engineering firm, the DCT makes the Korean brand one of a very small number of car makers in the world to produce its own dual-clutch transmission. Fuel consumption has been improved by an average of four per cent across the 2012 Kia Cee’d range.

Some of the 2012 Kia Cee’d review says the car gives mainstream and established competitors something to think about. Ride and handling for the 2012 Kia Cee’d was benchmarked against class-leading competitor vehicles from near-premium brands. In Europe, the 2012 Kia Cee’d range competes in the mainstream section of the highly popular C-segment with rivals such as the Opel Astra and the Peugeot 308.

Unknown at the moment is whether or not this Kia Cee’d will make it to the United States. We wouldn’t be surprised if the 2012 Kia Cee’d didn’t make it to the US: after all, the previous Cee’d was designed expressly for the European market, which left North America with the Forte.
